The Internet contains information on a wide range of topics provided by millions of individuals and organizations around the world.
No one controls its contents. Anything may be posted there, so you may find content that is offensive to you.
Since people can post whatever they like, information may be wrong, incomplete, or out of date. If the information is important to you, check it in another source. A librarian can help you verify it.
Any information you put on the Internet can be read by other people. Think before you write. Entering credit card numbers, account numbers, your name, address or other information may not be secure.
The library does not provide e-mail accounts. However, users with existing e-mail accounts through commercial providers (like Hotmail) may access them through some of the library's computers. The library assumes no responsibility and shall have no liability for any claims or damages, which result from providing such access.
The library is not responsible for information found on the Internet, or for what you do with it. The library is also not responsible for loss of privacy, damages or loss of information caused by use of the Internet.
As with other library materials, restriction of a child's access to the Internet is the responsibility of the parent or legal guardian. Children ages 14 through 17 must have parental permission and present a library card indicating that permission. Children under 14 must be accompanied by a parent or caregiver.
Using library computers for transmitting, disseminating, and/or duplicating information is regulated under state and federal laws. The library expects that you will comply with all such laws. U. S. Copyright law (Title 17, U. S. Code) prohibits the unauthorized reproduction or distribution of copyrighted materials, except as permitted by the principles of "fair use." The Library expressly disclaims any liability or responsibility for such infringement.
Some links to Internet sites can be found on the home web pages designed by library staff. The library follows its materials selection guidelines in linking other websites to its homepage. Beyond this, the library has not participated in developing these sites and does not have any editorial or other control over them. Any link from the library's website to another website is not an endorsement by the library. The library does not warrant that its website, the server that makes it available, or any links from its site to other websites are free from viruses or other harmful components.
